The repeated split and radicalization of politics in Europe is a gradually deepening process that has been going on for years, and in this process experts can study changes at individual and social levels „in vivo”. The „radioactive impacts” (Gampel) of traumas thought to have been buried in crypts for generations come alive as phantoms (Abraham-Torok), and traumas believed to have already been elaborated become active again. In my lecture, taking a Central European and Hungarian perspective, using the Hungarian psychoanalytical traditions, I will speak about current processes, their psychological impacts and consequences.
